Patient Experience of Delirium- Teaching Video

This is a 5 minute film in which the patient concerned had a post operative delirium and made a good recovery. He has a high degree of insight into the experience of delirium. The clip highlights the distressing nature of delirium and intensity of the symptoms. Furthermore  it draws atttention to the impact of good quality nursing care and the need to recognise the symptoms of delirium

It is intended that the video is used as a teaching tool. The patient consented to the video being posted on the EDA website and has stated he is keen to share his experience to help increase the recognition and management of delirium. The EDA are extremely to grateful to him.

The video was made in April 2011. It was produced by Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust, England, UK.

The project was overseen by Dr Andrew Teodorczuk, Consultant Psychiatrist, Lynne Harrison, RMN and by Ms Annie Laverty, Executive Director of Patient Experience at Northumbria. The videographer was Mr Dave Cave.
